Cashiers NC is the place to be this Saturday, May 25th. Two spectacular events will add variety to your Memorial Day Weekend plans. The Blues, Brews & BBQ is an annual event that keeps many coming back each year and the “Poker Run” is a unique event that combines the game of cards with bicycling. Whether you choose to partake in one event or both you will most certainly enjoy being in Cashiers North Carolina this weekend.
The Blues, Brews & BBQ event will take place Saturday at The Village Green from 9 am to 9 pm. This annual event marks the start of our summer season of fun festivities and is the first of the GCAMA 2013 Groovin’ on the Green concert series. As its title suggests there will be BBQ galore, great music and, of course, plenty of beer.
Check-in for the “Poker Run” opens at 9 am with the ride itself starting at 10:30 am. The 130 mile loop begins and ends at The Village Green in Cashiers. This bike ride is a scenic route along our stunning mountain roads with 3 pit stops along the way. The stops will be in Maggie Valley, Cherokee and Highlands, where riders will pick up their playing cards. At the end of the ride everyone will hand in their cards. There will be prizes for the best hand and worst hand.
