Today, February 17, 2009, we say thank you to wonderful volunteer firefighters who put out a brush fire on the south side of Satulah Mountain. It was amazing to see the helicopters drop bucket after bucket of water extinguishing the fire.
I witnessed these helicopters when I went to make sure the Lee Home which is listed with Meadows Mountain Realty was safe. This historic home, on the National Registry of Historic Places along with other residences is now out of harm’s way due to the heroic effort and fast action of the several mountain fire departments.
To the committed, hard working men who volunteer and work together to make sure the people and homes in their mountain communities are safe – we are very grateful.
