About the Property
If you are looking for an immaculate home on a premier lot in Cullasaja Club, then you need look no further! Back in 1992, when the owners of this home were seeking the perfect building site, they had over 200 lots to choose from as the club was just in its beginning stages of development. After a comprehensive search, this premier lot was chosen because of its golf course frontage with views of two lakes, a mountain view and views of five golf holes. To be sure, you will have a difficult time finding a better located home in all of Cullasaja Club.
With as much care as was put into choosing a lot, even more concern was placed on choosing the right builder and building a home that would be the very best in quality. Built by Srebalus Construction and completed in 1995, this home was constructed with the highest quality materials and with special care given to every detail. From a foundation that was drilled and pinned to the granite base beneath the house to ensure stability to extra insulation throughout the home for energy efficiency and noise reduction, in 20 years, this home has never had any cracking of walls, squeaking floors, water intrusion or any other structural issue.
Once you enter this pristine home, the quality continues to shine. The interior was meticulously finished with onsite construction of all cabinetry, molding and baseboards. The hardwood flooring was installed with such precision that in the years since it’s construction, this home has not had any cupping, squeaking or buckling of the floors.
In addition to the rock solid construction, this wonderful home offers all the comforts that you could want in a mountain retreat. The centerpiece of the large and open living room with vaulted ceilings and exposed beams is a beautiful Alabama field stone fireplace. Designed with sliding glass doors along the rear of the home, the interior is flooded with natural light and you are provided with a golf course and mountain views that are unrivaled.
Perfect for entertaining, the living room flows effortlessly into the dining room which can easily accommodate 12 people and a large open kitchen with enough counter and cabinet space to allow for preparations for an intimate meal or for hosting a party with all your family and friends. Off the dining room is a comfortable and inviting four season room which can be a screened porch in the warmer months or a great place to relax and watch the snow fall in the winter.
The main floor also includes a spacious master bedroom with deck access, vaulted ceilings, two walk in closets, a large bathroom with double vanity, walk in shower, and jetted tub. A half bath is conveniently located for easy access for guests. All of the main floor living space is on a single floor and accessible with one step.
The upstairs includes two sizable guest bedrooms and an adjoining full bathroom. They are located on the opposite end of the home from the master bedroom to ensure privacy for both you and your guests.
The garage is finished and oversized to accommodate two vehicles plus storage. Over the garage is full floor storage accessible with pull down steps. Through the garage, you will find a unique feature in a separate large office with two built in desks and cabinets which can also be converted to additional sleeping space. The room includes vaulted ceilings, exposed beams, half moon window, microwave, and small refrigerator.
The lower level of this home was designed to expand to two additional bedrooms or other living spaces. It is currently set up as dry storage space and also has an existing craft room and half bathroom. This space also houses two 110 gallon hot water heaters ensuring continual hot water as well as a dual function gas and electric furnace to maximize heating preference and efficiency. This lower level space has full insulation in both the ceiling and the walls. This house also has an auto start/stop gas generator that supplies power to all necessary home functions in the event of a power failure.
In addition to all of these features, this home also offers a separate golf cart garage and workshop which could be converted to a kid’s playhouse if desired. The driveway is offset so the home is not visible from the road and ensures privacy. Lastly, this home has many enhancements including beautiful landscaping, exterior and interior painting and a new roof with a 40 year warranty was installed in 2015.
This is not just a house or a show piece, but rather it is truly a home designed for comfort, dependability and family living whether that is seasonal or year round.

A mere two hour drive from the hustle and bustle of metropolitan Atlanta, Georgia; Asheville, North Carolina; and Greenville, South Carolina is the idyllic mountain town known as Highlands, North Carolina. At a pristine elevation of over 4,000 feet, this quiet rustic mountain community is located at the southern tip of the Blue Ridge Mountains and is surrounded by national Forest. It straddles the Eastern Continental Divide and still seems to the first time visitor like just a few steps from Heaven’s door.
This picture perfect mountain oasis, so reminiscent of a Norman Rockwell painting, had its humble beginning back in 1875, when as legend has it, two Kansas developers drew intersecting lines on a map from New York to New Orleans and from Chicago to Savannah. They theorized that the point where these lines met would one day be a great trade center and the hub of commerce. Fortunately, they missed their calculations by approximately 120 miles (Atlanta Georgia) and this rich and fertile mountain village was able to develop as a health and summer resort town on the highest plateau of the Southern Appalachian Mountains in Western North Carolina. The year round population of the Highlands area is about 4,500, but the summertime temperatures draw visitors from around the southeast who come to enjoy the cool days and brisk mountain evenings.
Unlike most resort towns, the majority of our summer visitors are also homeowners and the town has created a community of concerned citizens and cultural organizations with many diverse activities. This community atmosphere makes for an ideal relocation to Highlands. Within the four blocks of Main Street and adjacent streets that make up the center of town, Highlands is a delightful blend of country and city cultures. Rarely is it possible for such a small town to offer the array of services found in Highlands. Medical needs are met with a full-service hospital and a staff of general practitioners and specialists.
The cultural amenities include professional theatre, chamber music concerts, cabarets, art exhibits, galleries, a fine art center and other special events. A variety of educational classes and informative seminars are also available. Highlands gives you a range of choices and somehow manages to nurture your spirit at the same time.
For those who possess a more adventuresome spirit, nature is always calling and beckons you to spend time away from the harried cares of your world. Take a long walk or an invigorating hike to a nearby waterfall; go mountain biking or stroll the sidewalks of Main Street. There is championship golf, tennis, swimming, fly-fishing, boating, kayaking, canoeing, and even whitewater rafting in the rivers nearby. Spring, summer, fall and winter each of the seasons offers its own unique set of outdoor adventures that attract residents and visitors alike to revel in the magnificent splendors of the mountains.
Named for the river that meanders through the golf course, Cullasaja is the Cherokee word for”sweet water”. Indeed, the setting here is straight out of a fairy tale, particularly in the Fall as densely wooded areas become a canvas of orange, red and gold.
However, it’s the golf course that brings people to Cullasaja Club, and the designer’s signature is one of the best: Arnold Palmer. Palmer’s objective was achieved in a course that is not only visually appealing and memorable, but highly playable with generous sized fairways, and difficult, but not impossible greens.
There is also a 26-acre lake, which comes into play on the 184 yard 14th hole. But the splash of golf balls isn’t the only activity on the lake. You can play 18 in the morning, then paddle out on Lake Ravenel in a canoe in the afternoon to do some fishing.
At the hub of member activity is the clubhouse, a striking 14,000 square foot facility that overlooks the ninth green. The clubhouse is home to the pro shop, dining room, grill, and men’s and ladies’ locker rooms. The adjacent swim and tennis center offers a brand new fitness facility; heated, Olympic style swimming pool; kiddy pool; and lighted tennis courts.
An active homeowner’s association provides year round manned gatehouse security plus an aggressive architectural control committee. Although, primarily a single family community, there are also Lake Villas fronting Lake Ravenel where you can fish from your deck, Fairway Cottages along the 10th hole and Overlook Villas that afford stunning views of Whiteside Mountain and the forested valley that seemingly goes on forever. Homes and villas start in the mid $500’s and top out about three million dollars
