There is something about the beauty of Highlands North Carolina that puts the mind at ease and opens it to an array of possible talents. The area is particularly appealing to artists who find inspiration in the stunning views and the serenity that permeates the Southern Blue Ridge Mountains. It is no surprise that Highlands hosts a variety of art shows throughout the year at its various galleries and studios.
Currently showing at the Bascom are a variety of ongoing exhibits that display the unique talent that finds its way to the Highlands area. One exhibit, “An Artist in Construction”, shares the common thread between the construction of both architecture and pottery through the photos of Dr. Patrick Taylor.
Another exhibit showing at the Bascomb through June 5th is “Mud to Music”, a display of musical instruments created from clay by a variety of ceramicists. A performance on these instruments will take place on June 5th. As always there is a lot more going on at the Bascom in Highlands NC.
