Jackson County North Carolina will see some exciting new developments this year including upgrades and renovations. According to Smoky Mountain News, Jackson County commissioners approved a few multi-million dollar projects including the expansion of the Sylva Volunteer Fire Department (estimated to cost $2.3 million), and a joint building project with a new library and renovations to the historic courthouse.
The library and courthouse project is expected to cost $7.9 million, with an opening date of December of 2010. Other possible projects include the construction of a Cashiers Recreation Center and renovations to the Smoky Mountain High School.
