Winter in Highlands NC is enhanced by ice skating fun. Winter in our mountain community is a special time and along with winter comes a slew of seasonal activities. One favorite activity is ice skating, offering fun for all ages! Ice skating is an activity for everyone and a great opportunity to enjoy fresh mountain air while making memories that will last a lifetime.

Fresh mountain air

The outdoor ice rink is located at Kelsey-Hutchinson Founders Park. Ice skating opened for the season on November 27th and has been spreading joy for the Highlands NC community and visitors ever since. The rink is open Thursday through Sunday.

Winter 2025/26 Schedule

Thursday 3:30-8:00pm
Friday 3:30-10:00pm
Saturday 1:00-10:00pm
Sunday 1:00-5:00pm

Skate Rentals: Ice skates can be rented at the rink.
Cost: $8, whether you bring your own skates or rent them.
Additional: coffee and hot cocoa are available
