Highlands NC, Mark your Calendar For a Fun Soirée
If you will be in Highlands NC on August 2 then mark your calendar for a fun soiree. The Soirée at Faraway will be a wonderful event designed to help the Highlands Biological Foundation celebrate the beauty and mystery of the Plateau. There is no doubt that people are ready to celebrate community and being together. Furthermore, an appreciation for our wonderful area has never been so strong. This is a great opportunity for the Highlands community to come together to raise money for a worthy cause!
What is the Highlands NC Biological Foundation?
The Highlands Biological Foundation supports the Highlands Biological Station and provides grants in support of scientific research, bringing graduate students and research scientists to Highlands NC from all over the country. The Highland Biological Station has three pilars: The Nature Center, Botanical Garden, and Laboratory. The station is a place of research as well as information for residents and visitors of the Highlands Plateau.
The Soirée will be held at the Satulah estate known as “Faraway”. This is a stunning and home belonging to Julia and Bill Grumbles. Located at the top of Satulah Mountain, the setting is magical, offering fantastic views and stunning gardens. This is truly a Highlands landmark, once home to Dr. Mary Lapham, an internationally-recognized local physician who specialized in treating tuberculosis in the early 1900s. (The Laurel Magazine) The event kicks off at 6 pm. We hope to see you on Auigust 2 at this special event, not to be missed and certainly be a memory maker!
