The 23rd annual Highlands Christmas Parade was held on December 6th along Main Street from 5th to 2nd Streets. Boasting nearly double the number of floats from last year, the parade brought young and old alike into the crisp Saturday morning for what has become for many a Christmas tradition not to be missed.
Past and present residents and visitors from as far away as Greenville, SC and Atlanta ooh’d, aaah’d and cheered an event that has been described as “Rockwellian”. Where else can you see The Highlands School Band, antique cars, the High School Homecoming King, Queen, and court, the Boy Scouts, the Highlands Police and Fire Departments, a live campfire on a flatbed truck, the Humane Society dogs, the Tooth Fairy, and even live camels all traveling the same path? And of course the highlight, as it is at the end of every Highlands Christmas Parade, was the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Clause, officially marking the start to the Christmas Season.
Christmas is such a fun time of year in Highlands, make sure you check our blog for upcoming events!
