The Cashiers NC community supports children and reading. In fact anyone in the Cashiers area on Friday, June 29th can help children receive the gift of a good book simply by going out to lunch. A few restaurants in Cashiers NC are donating a portion of their lunch sales on the 29th to the Literary Council of Cashiers. Restaurants participating in Lunching for Literacy include: Subway, The Orchard, Cork and Barrel, Carolina Smokehouse, The Grill at Jimmy Mac’s, Tamburini’s, and Wendy’s.
The funds raised from Lunching for Literacy will help the Literary Council with its Imagination Library program which provides a monthly book to children ages newborn to 5 years old who live in Cashiers, Sapphire, Glenville, and Cullowhee. The program is meant to inspire a lifetime love of reading, books, inspiration, and imagination. Lunching for Literacy is a prime example of how the Cashiers NC community focuses on its youth and instills the importance of education.
