Great theater in Highlands NC hit the stage this past week. Oklahoma! kicked off on Thursday, July 11th, and will run through the 27th at the Highlands Playhouse. Summer brings a lot of fun to the area and enjoying plays, musicals, and great talent is included! Don’t miss this month’s theatrical treat, offering up an old classic for the entire Highlands NC community, locals and visitors alike, to enjoy!
Highlands Palyhouse is a community treasure
The Highlands Playhouse is one of the oldest summer stock theaters in the United States and is a gem of the Highlands/Cashiers NC area. Each summer the playhouse showcases 3 or 4 performances. This year there are 3. The first show, Buddy Holly, was on stage from June 20th through July 6th. Oklahoma is the 2nd show, is on stage July 11th through the 27th, and Patsy Cline will be the third show, on stage from August 1st through the 17th.

In addition to the main performances the Highlands Playhouse offers a summer camp for kids. This is a great opportunity for youth to learn all aspects of theater, including writing, performance, set design, and more.
