Highlands NC Community Can Learn About Mushrooms Next Week

Highlands NC community

Meadows Mountain Realty, Highlands NC real estate

The Highlands NC community can learn about mushrooms next week. Mushrooms of the Carolinas will take place Monday through Friday, August 12th through the 16th, at the Highlands Biological Station. The Highlands/Cashiers NC area is home to a variety of mushrooms and knowing which ones you can eat is important. Likewise, knowing which varieties are poisonous is essential! Put this class on your to-do list and you will not be disappointed!

Mushrooms of the Carolinas will focus on the types of mushrooms that exist in both North and South Carolina. Furthermore, the class will offer the knowledge needed to identify the family, genus, and species of the different mushrooms you may come across. There will be lectures, labs, taste testing, and field trips. Did you know that this field of study is called mycology? Whether you are a novice hunter of mushrooms or have always want to pick mushrooms consider this class.

Highlands NC community treasures the Biological Station

The Highlands Biological Station is a cornerstone of the Highlands NC community. The station offers residents and visitors alike the opportunity to learn more about the natural environment. Whether you want to learn about plants, animals, or both, you can do so here. Learning more about the environment of the Southern Blue Ridge Mountains enhances the appreciation for all that we enjoy here in the Highlands NC area.
