Highlands NC events at The Bascom this month celebrate art and offer opportunities to meet the artists. This month does not disappoint, with great exhibits and the opportunity to learn more about the art and the artists.
A sampling of August happenings at The Bascom:
Thursday, August 22, the “From the Lowlands to the Highlands” Exhibition Reception will take place at the Bascom from 5 to 6:30 pm. Learn more about Will Henry Stevens’ life (1881-1949) and his curiosity about the natural world. The exhibit includes both landscapes and abstracts capturing the two regions closest to the artist’s heart, the Louisiana Bayou and the Appalachian Mountains.
Saturday, August 31, the Atrium Series 3: Artist Meet and Greet, 2:00 to 5:00 pm. Enjoy a meet and greet reception with the artists featured in Series 3 of the Atrium Series that has taken place this season. 20 retail artists have shown their works through four six-week presentations in The Bascom’s Greehey Atrium. You will have the opportunity to meet the Series 3 artists in person, learn about their creative processes, and explore the inspiration behind their work.
