Highlands NC is full of activities on the Fourth of July. Saturday is Independence Day, the biggest and most celebrated day of the summer. Simply hearing the holiday is near conjures up visions of barbecues, apple pie, fun, family, friends, and fireworks. Here in Highlands we have much to choose from and much to do when it comes to scheduling what we want to do on July 4th!
Independence Day is a full day in our community. Starting with fun and games for the kids at the baseball field and ending with fireworks, there is no shortage of fun to be had. The games and activities on the baseball field include relay races and a bottle rocket launch. The Community Building will holding a BBQ starting at 11 am, with burgers and dogs on the menu. Another highlight of the day is the Rubber Ducky Derby at Mill Creek at 1 pm, a great fundraiser for the Rotary Club. Live music at Kelsey-Hutchinson Park will take place at 6 pm, with the fireworks display lifting up the sky at roughly 9 pm. If you will be in town on Saturday you have a lot to do!
