Highlands NC Ice Skating Season Starts Thursday

Highlands NC ice skating season starts Thursday.  The ice rink at the Kelsey-Hutchinson Founders Park is open November 9 through March 4.  The rink enables all ages to get outside and enjoy a favorite pastime.  The Highlands NC community has always loved outdoor skating but recent weather patterns have made the ability to enjoy outdoor ice a little unpredictable.  A local couple has made it possible, through their generosity, to have a consistent ice surface to enjoy in the park.

The ice rink is scheduled with many special events this year and is available for parties and group bookings.  The cost to skate is $5 per person, regardless of whether you bring your own skates or rent them.  Of course there will be hot chocolate, coffee, and water available for purchase as well. Another bonus is the newly constructed Founders’ Monument fireplace that will provide a cozy place to watch ice skaters or simply enjoy the park.

There is always something going on in Highlands NC.  The fresh mountain air and ability to be active outside is a draw for residents and visitors alike.  The new ice rink is a great amenity and one which will quickly become treasured.  The rink will be open Thursdays through Sundays starting at 1 pm.
