Highlands NC raises money for nature this Sunday. “Highlands on the Half Shell” is one of the season’s most anticipated events, an opportunity to support the Highlands Biological Foundation. This Sunday, October 2, from 4:30 pm until dark there will be a Cajun feast, great music, and even better company in the Meadow of the Nature Center.

“Highlands on the Half-Shell” will offer a feast of steamed oysters, gumbo, and jambalaya in a spectacular setting. The Firecracker Jazz Band will be playing live music through the evening. The Highlands Biological Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides support for the Biological Station, including the Nature Center, the Botanical Garden, and the Biological Laboratory. The Highlands Biological Station is a cornerstone of the community, focusing on education, research, and preservation of the biologic surroundings of the Highlands area.
