The 2nd annual Dahlia Festival will take place in Highlands this Saturday, September 15th, at the Highlands Recreation Center from 1 to 4 pm, offering everyone in the area to enjoy a unique floral experience. The festival offers a competition open to amateurs and hobbyists, with many categories and anyone who loves Dahlias capable of entering.
The Dahlia Festival is put on by the Highlands Historical Society, and integral part of our community. The Highlands Historical Society is committed to preserving the past and educating residents and visitors alike about the Highlands Plateau and its many facets. Dahlias flourish in Highlands North Carolina and the festival was created as a way to celebrate a flower that represents our area.
