Learn more about Cashiers NC this week. The Cashiers Historical Society will hold its annual symposium on Thursday, May 31st, and host a walk around Cashiers NC on Friday, June 1st. Both of these events provide visitors and residents a different view of Cashiers, as well as a glimpse of the past in our unique area.
The annual Symposium will cover a wide assortment of history topics with regards to Cashiers NC, including historical figures from the area, Cashiers involvement in the Civil War, and the divided loyalties that existed in our area, among others. The Symposium will be held at the High Hampton Inn Pavilion from 9 am to 4 pm. The cost is $50 and includes lunch.
On Friday local historian Jane Nardy will lead a walk around Cashiers NC, visiting significant historical sites and discussing what life was like in our area during the Civil War. The cost for this walk is $5 for members of the Cashiers historical Society, call 828-743-7710 for more information.
