This is the time of year when birds are entering their migration patterns and the Highlands Plateau is a perfect spot for viewing a variety of birds as they work their way south, changing their habitat for the colder months. This weekend’s Highlands birding adventure will explore the Whiteside Cove Road and Horse Cove areas.
If you are interested in the birding adventure in Highlands, put on by the Highlands chapter of the Audubon Society, call 828-743-9942. The group plans to set out for Whiteside Cove Road at 7:30 am. Interested birders should meet behind Highlands Town Hall, by the public restrooms, to carpool. If you are in Cashiers NC and would like to join then please meet at Wendy’s at 8 am to join the group.
