Springtime Cycling Event in Cashiers North Carolina

Mark your calendar, grab your helmet and oil up that bike because the Tour de Cashiers is set for Saturday, May 2nd.

Three different rides are featured in the Tour de Cashiers varying in length from 25 miles to 100 miles.  The shortest ride, the 25-miler is perfect for those first time contestants into the Tour de Cashiers or anyone who wants a good introduction to mountain cycling.   The Metric Century is a very challenging and beautiful ride through Norton, Franklin, Elijay and Cullowhee Mountain. The final ride of 100 miles roams through the Toxaway area, then goes over to Cullowhee and eventually winds back up Walnut Gap and on into Cashiers. This challenging ride includes over 10,000 feet of climbing and attracts some of the top cyclists in the region.

Now in its 17th year, the Tour de Cashiers is a great kickoff to spring and a reason to get outside and get in shape.    Even if you have never participated in a cycling event, this is a great time to get started with the 25 mile event.   Experienced riders can enjoy a world class ride through the North Carolina mountains in the springtime.

Proceeds of the Tour de Cashiers benefit various local charities and the event attracts visitors for all over the southeast in early spring who come out to enjoy the competition and all the beauty that springtime in Cashiers and Highlands has to offer.
