Cottages have been designed by Allen Brown, AIA. Allen Brown graduated from Georgia Tech in 1977, with a five-year Bachelor of Architecture degree, which included a one-year exchange program at the Echole du Beaux-Arts, in Paris.
After 9 years in residential and commercial design-build construction, Brown opened an office in Cashiers, North Carolina, in the fall of 1986. After two years, Allen and his family moved full-time to the Cashiers area.
Over the past 27 years, Brown has worked primarily in the mountains of western North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. Most of his firm’s design projects consist of mountain and lake vacation homes and golf course communities. His work includes designing commercial projects as well as development planning—when it fits with his style and scale of operation.
His architectural firm is a small “boutique firm,” which allows an artistic design approach and personalized service. This approach has worked well for Allen, receiving a lifetime of referrals from satisfied clients.
Building Cottages on 4th is, Lupoli Construction. John Lupoli began building in Highlands and Cashiers 40 years ago and officially established Lupoli Construction in 1982. From humble beginnings as a painter, John has become the area’s premier builder with a portfolio including more than 200 custom homes ranging from modest cabins to 15,000+ square foot estates.
