Highlands NC, Kids Learn to Grow

Kids in Highlands NC are getting the opportunity to learn to grow a variety of things, including herbs and vegetables.  The Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) program has enabled raised beds to be available for local children to learn what it takes to grow their own food and have a little fun in the process.  From planting seeds to experimenting with different varieties children in the Highlands area are getting some hands-on experience, a great way to learn!

This past Spring children planted gardens at The Bascom and at the Highlands School.  The projects were designed to allow children in the area the opportunity to try something new, in hopes of sparking an interest.  Now, in the height of the summer these plantings are in full bloom and many of the herbs are being harvested and used in restaurants in Highlands North Carolina.

The Highlands community is ripe with opportunities for children, including many hands-on experiences that include art and nature.  Contact the team at Meadows Mountain Realty today to learn more about living in the Highlands area.  We welcome the opportunity to help you get to know our unique community while updating you on the Highlands real estate market at the same time.
